WCYFA Team Tryouts Tomorrow - July 12th

2008 Tryouts/Team Formations will be held:

Saturday, July 12th - 10:00AM - 12:00PM
Monday, July 14th - 6:15PM - 8:00PM
@ Community Park Field 7 (Field behind the library)

Athletes are required to attend BOTH scheduled dates.

Please have your athlete wear shoulder pads and helmets IF they already have them. Otherwise please have your athlete wear shorts, tee shirt and football cleats or running shoes. PLEASE BRING WATER! ALL athletes on tackle teams will be required to have pads by Saturday July 19th.

Teams will be announced Monday evening by 10:00pm

FYI - NO CUTS HAVE BEEN MADE OVER THE LAST THREE SEASONS!

Fee for Flag football will be $165.00.
This fee will include a home game jersey, away game jersey, game pants, game socks and WCYFA t-shirt.
This fee also covers helmet rental, league fees, refs, fields, insurance, and trophy or medal, etc.

Flag will need a mouth piece, football cleats, practice shorts and shirt in the follow colors:
Shorts - Black
T-Shirt - Plain White
No other equipment will be needed for flag.

Flag Division DOES play 11 man regulation football.

Fee for 1A - 3A will be $200.00.
This will include a home game jersey, away game jersey, game pants, game socks, helmet decals and WCYFA t-shirt.
This fee also covers league fees, refs, fields, insurance, and trophy or medal, etc.

The equipment 1A - 3A teams will need to purchase is a helmet, shoulder pads, pads for pants, football cleats, and a mouth piece. This equipment is standard for any tackle league.
1A - 3A will also need a practice jersey and practice pants in following colors:
1A - White Pants and White Practice Jersey
2A - White Pants and Maroon Practice Jersey
3A - White Pants and Black Practice Jersey

Fees will be due on Tuesday, July 15th @ uniform fitting.

All games played in/on stadium type fields.
Seventh graders are welcome to play as long as they fit into the age division requirements.

WCYFA - WFL Football Mini Camp - Sunday, April 27th

REMINDER -

Camp is free and is open to ALL athletes ages 5–12 (ages as of August 1, 2008)Grades Pre K - 7.

No pads will be needed for camps.
Please wear shorts or athletic pants, t-shirt, and football or running shoes.
Please bring water!

If you are interested in attending camp/s please complete the mini camp registration form under the online forms tab.
Also…please complete the MINI CAMP WAIVER (found under the “Handouts” tab) and bring to camp with you!

If you have already registered for a 2008 mini camp you do NOT have to register again.

ALL Participants must check in at the table.

Camp will be held at Community Park,
Field 7 (this is the field directly behind the library)
Camp will be held from 2:00 - 3:30PM

Mini-camps are hard work but lots of fun.

Success destined for 2008 is just beginning.

2008 Cheerleader Tryout Registrations Currently being held!!

Register online @ http://www.leaguelineup.com/wyliepirates anytime between now and April 17. Or register in person at the mandatory Parent Information Meeting on April 18th. Registrations for tryouts will NOT be accepted the day of cheer clinics/tryouts.

2A ages 9-10
3A ages 11-12

Cheer clinic and tryouts will be held Saturday, April 19th @ the Harrison Intermediate School gym.

2008 Dallas Cowboys Schedule

Yes, I know The Dallas Cowboys have nothing to do with Wylie. But I bet there are a lot of Cowboys fans in Wylie, just like me. Well, certainly they aren’t “just like me”. That’s a tall order and no one wants it. But they are Cowboys fans and I’m sure I’ll discuss Dallas Cowboys action on here throughout the season. I just don’t think I can help myself.

WISD Events Canceled 03/06/08

WISD is canceling all evening activities for today, March 6, due to inclement weather.  School will be dismissed at the normal time today; however, parents wanting to pick up their children early, may do so.  A decision about school tomorrow will be made by 5 a.m.

WHS Track Team Wins Clay Jones Relays

The Wylie High School track team does it again. Win, that is. Varsity and JV men’s track teams competed in the Clay Jones Relays at Forney High School over the weekend. Twelve teams competed including Forney, Red Oak, Terrell and Denison.

Varsity achieved first place by gaining 142 points. Forney finished second with 106.5. JV gained 144 points, dwarfing second place Forney’s 99.

Congratulations to the Wylie High School men’s track team.

Pirates Win 4 Soccer Games Tuesday

The Wylie High School soccer teams showed Richardson how to win last night by achieving victory in all four games played.

Led by goals scored by Eli Kinsey and Jose Galarza, the men’s JV team won 2-0.

In Varsity play, Justin Nesmith hit a 40 yard free kick to win the game, 2-1. The Pirates are tied for first place in district with Plano and Allen at 7-2. They will play Allen on Friday in a huge game at Ford Middle School at 7:30.

The women’s JV team couldn’t stop scoring last night, torching Richardson 5-0. Stephanie Heinkel, Brittney Begando, Elizabeth Rodriguez (2) and Katie Crandall all contributed to Wylie’s score. They will play Allen at home on Friday night.

Kelli Wentworth scored two goals for the women’s Varsity team, including one with 2 minutes remaining, as the Pirates win a nail biter 2-1. They play again Friday at home against Allen.
